Couples Counseling

I am very passionate about helping couples have happier and healthier relationships. I've always gravitated towards Gottman Method because of their strong research showing results for all kinds of couples. After completing a thorough assessment I create a treatment plan with evidence based interventions.

Gottman Method is based on the sound relationship house theory which highlights 9 areas that make a healthy relationship.

Marathon Couples Sessions

The assessment process for couples is completed in several steps.

  1. Both partners meet with the therapist for an intake. This includes reviewing a few policies and procedures, the reasons you are seeking counseling, what a typical argument looks like and a relationship history questionnaire.

  2. Each partner completes an online assessment the "Gottman Relationship Check up"'. The questionnaire consists of 480 questions about friendship, intimacy, emotions, conflict, values, and trust, as well as parenting, housework, finances, individual areas of concern, and more.

  3.  Each partner meets with the therapist to complete an individual assessment looking at their family history growing up, previous relationships, and individual concerns.

  4. The last step both partners meet with the therapist to review the results of the assessment and the treatment plan.

Doing one session per week can take up to 5 weeks to complete. The other option is to complete a marathon session. You will book a 6 hour slot with a lunch break and complete the whole process and start working on the first intervention.

It is also possible to book a 4-6 hour slot after the assessment process to tackle several interventions at once.

Marathon sessions are great for people who want to speed up the process, save time, or for couples who aren't often together because of travel or work.
