Chronic Illness
Chronic illness can take a serious toll on both you and your relationship. When your body demands so much of your energy, time, and focus, it can leave little left for connection — and that can be painful for both partners. Maybe you’re already managing your illness medically but need help healing emotionally and relationally.
I work with individuals and couples navigating conditions such as:
-
Dysautonomia and POTS
-
Chronic fatigue and pain
-
Fibromyalgia
-
Ehlers-Danlos syndrome
-
Long COVID and post-viral conditions
-
Autoimmune disorders
-
Migraine and other invisible illnesses
-
Chronic pain
Through Gottman Method Couples Therapy, I help partners understand the emotional and practical impact of chronic illness, including shifts in intimacy, roles, independence, and communication. After a thorough assessment, I use evidence-based interventions to rebuild trust, reduce resentment, and create a shared sense of teamwork. Together, we can find new ways to stay emotionally connected, even when your body feels unpredictable.
I also work with individuals facing the emotional challenges of chronic illness, including identity shifts, grief over lost abilities, medical trauma, health anxiety, burnout from self-advocacy, and adjusting to a “new normal.” Therapy offers a space to make sense of it all, reconnect with your values, and find sustainable ways to care for both your body and your mind.
